Ellas — Running
What does it mean to be running in our circles? Are we running because we are trying to escape our worries and problems and thus seek peace of mind? Do we want to reach new places and unconsciously try to leave the past behind? Or are we simply running in order to switch off thoughts and to achieve freedom in the mere process of movement? Such questions arise with “Running”, the third single of the Aargau pop band Ellas. The song is characterized by bulky drums and suffering vocals, but halfway through the song it throws off all the ballast and celebrates the freedom of running with powerful guitars, reverb and heavy bass – until a final effect proves it: In the end, a sprint is only a temporary phenomenon and everything that seems to be in the past sometimes comes back to the present without any confrontation.
