SLOW is not just the name of the latest release from the Bernese Soul/Hip Hop producer SAD, it's also his music-making methodology and an all around life philosophy. It's a way for the brother to enjoy the ride thoroughly – raising 3 kids, holding down a teaching job, and keeping his Souldogs band inspired and sharp, and the beats coming. SLOW is the only option for this brother, and it's also his natural stride.

SLOW matured conceptually for well over a decade, on the heels of SAD's premiere effort "Update 1". The actual writing for the record took about a year. The process was very organic and based on a steady flow of live improv sessions with the Souldogs crew, where they just let loose on tracks and kept what sounded right to them. Originally the record was supposed to be a pure Soul effort –with  only female vocals on it, but then the T3 and Young Rj from Slum Village entered the picture. They liked what they heard and agreed to jump on board. The outcome is a record that will probably make Questlove shed some heavy tears reminiscing over his Nusoul agenda of the mid to late 90s, that is if he gets to hear this one.

SLOW is a record made for the mature Hip Hop / Soul listener. It was cut by a producer who came up in that 90s era, and who not only loves this sound, but also knows how to cook it down right. SLOW is a celebration of life and it'll make you slow down a notch guaranteed.

Take it slow, let it breathe. Der Berner Musiker Sandro Durrer aka SAD reist zurück zu den Klängen, mit denen alles begann. Lang bevor er zum Hip Hop-Produzent wurde, der einige der bekanntesten Songs von Künstlern wie Baze, Greis, Seven, Sektion Kuchikäschtli, Gimma, Ali & LCone und vielen mehr komponierte. Bevor SAD die Rap-Beats programmierte und seine Trap-Hymnen auf den Tanzflächen des Landes ertönten. Ganz am Anfang, als sich langsam seine Liebe für Klang und Ton enwickelte, stand die Soul Musik. Nun taucht er zurück in dieses Universum, und umgibt sich für das Album „Slow“ von einer unvergleichbaren All-Star Band: Seine Kompositionen wurden live vom Who’s-Who der lokalen Soul- und Funk-Szene eingespielt: J.J. Flück, Toni Schiavano, Raphael Jakob, Benj Külling und viele mehr verleihen dem Album ein unglaublich einheitliches Klangbild. Die Songs verschmelzen zu einem Gesamtopus und erzeugen einen Wirbel, dem man sich kaum entziehen kann.

Getragen vom virtuosen Gesang der Bieler Sängerin Djemeia und den Rap-Vocals der Detroiter Rapper von Slum Village, tritt SAD auf Pfaden wie J-Dilla und D’Angelo. Wenn es seit den 1990er Jahren so etwas wie eine Berner Soul-Tradition gibt, läutet „Slow“ ein ganz neues Kapitel ein, dessen Ausstrahlung weit über die lokale Szene reichen wird.

C’est un retour aux sources pour le musicien bernois Sandro Durrer, connu sous le nom de SAD. Un retour aux sonorités avec lesquelles tout a commencé. Bien avant qu’il devienne le producteur chevronné des morceaux les plus connus d’artistes comme Seven, Greis ou Gimma. Tout au début, il y avait la Soul. Il replonge desormais dans cet univers, en s’entourant du gratin de la scène Funk et Soul Bernoise. Il a formé pour cet album un groupe live qui donne a cet album un son unique. Les morceaux se fondent les uns dans les autres pour créer un remous auquel i lest impossible de resister.

Porté par la voix enlevée de Djemeia et les paroles des Rappeurs americains de Slum Village, SAD empreinte les sentiers de J-Dilla et D’Angelo. Si il existe une tradition Soul a Berne depuis les années 1990, „Slow“ sonne le glas d’un nouveau chapitre qui va rayonner loin au dela des frontiers de la scene locale.
